PURPOSE:
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for providing financial and business planning, reporting, and site-focused business analysis support to management. This role places a strong emphasis on leveraging Vena Solutions – our FP&A tool – to facilitate budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and robust data analytics. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate across departments (finance, accounting, operations) to deliver accurate, insightful financial information that supports strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Function/Production:
•Use Vena extensively to manage budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning processes, and overall reporting.
•Develop and maintain financial models to aid in data-driven decision-making.
•Generate month-end and quarter-end financial packages, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
•Collect and analyze business data, KPIs, and financial results using Vena and Excel. Create dashboards and ad-hoc reports in Vena to communicate performance insights clearly to management.
•Work closely with the Accounting team to coordinate period-end close procedures, ensuring that Vena and SAP remain aligned.
•Partner with cross-functional teams to gather inputs, resolve data discrepancies, and enhance reporting accuracy.
•Provide support during half-year reviews and year-end audits, supplying Vena data and documentation as needed.
•Participate in special projects such as system enhancements, process automation, or cost-optimization analysis at the request of site leadership.
•Identify opportunities to further optimize Vena usage, including implementing new features, refining models and reports, and training end-users.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
•Minimum of 3 years of financial analysis and reporting experience required.
•Experience in a mining or manufacturing environment preferred.
•Direct experience with Vena Solutions or a similar FP&A platform strongly preferred.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, experience with SAP is a plus.
•Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of leveraging data to make recommendations.
ORGANIZATIONAL FACTORS:
The Senior Business Analyst will report directly to the Finance Manager. This position works closely with site management and cross-functional teams. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with and support the Vena Owner on projects related to reporting and process improvements.
