Business Operations Specialist – Workday Financials

Our partner, a leading global investment banking firm, is seeking a business operations specialist with Workday Financials expertise to join its team and play a key role in the optimization of their Workday Financials system.
About the Role
As the business operations specialist, you will support the corporate finance team on maximizing system functionality within Workday Financials and other technical systems. You will be in charge of creating efficiencies and optimizations to minimize manual work, collaborating with key stakeholders to streamline these processes, and deploying new functionalities to streamline the system and drive business impact. You will be assessing the system for potential improvement areas, documenting system requirements, executing testing scenarios, and delivering solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- As a Workday Security Administrator, this role will work closely with the Managing Director and our HR counterparties to execute on system administration for Workday, including configuration, business processes, security & compliance, notifications, auditing, and data quality management
- Support deployment of new Workday modules/add-ons
- Permission system users, respond to user questions, troubleshoot system issues and resolve as necessary
- Review vendor releases; participate in regression testing for new system features and communicate changes/benefits to end users; present new features in detail with final recommendations to management
- Conduct specific systems training/create and maintain detailed training materials for end users
- Support SOX compliance in Workday by maintaining strict segregation of duties among finance and HR roles, monitoring system changes and user access, and providing audit support as necessary
Additional Responsibilities
- Support outsourced Workday expense team, including policy inquiries and updates
- Communicate with third party vendors when required for system integrations and collaborate across travel partnership, automation of processing and data/report requests
Prerequisites
- 4 – 6 years of experience in an accounting or corporate finance department (preferably in a public company) using Workday Financial modules; understanding of basic accounting structure and key data points
- Must have hands-on configuration of 1-2 core areas within Workday Financials and development of simple integrations and moderate complexity custom reports containing financial data
- Must have a solid understanding of the Workday Security Model and have hands-on experience configuring organization roles and role-based security groups.
- Working knowledge of Workday data sources and primary/related business objects for Workday Financials is required.
- Experience configuring moderate complexity calculated fields is strongly preferred.
- Skill at eliciting and documenting requirements, executing test plans, and delivering a solution from start to finish
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with an ability to engage and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels and explain complex technical solutions in a clear, concise way
- Strong analytical skills and techniques with ability to analyze, evaluate and form independent judgments; Ability to interpret data to improve business processes and create synergies wherever possible
- Must be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Benefits & Compensation
- This position’s estimated salary range is from $110,000 to $130,000, with potential bonus opportunities pushing estimated year one earnings to $120,000 – $150,000.
- This position is hybrid in the firm’s Houston office, requiring any new hire to work 3 days in office
