This Canadian mining company is focused on the responsible extraction and production of metallurgical coal, a key component in global steelmaking. With operations in Northeast British Columbia, they manage several active surface mines and support a workforce of over 1,000 employees.

Position Overview

They are seeking a motivated Financial Planning Analyst to join the finance team. This role is integral in supporting financial planning, reporting, and strategic decision-making across multiple mine sites. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leaders, travelling regularly to mine locations to support budgeting, forecasting, and business partnership activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to mine sites to support financial planning and business analysis.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze financial and operational data.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and strategic planning.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including variance analysis.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and manage fixed asset reporting.
  • Collaborate with business unit managers to finalize reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support stakeholder reporting and assist with ad hoc financial projects.
  • Ensure compliance with internal systems and contribute to process optimization.
  • Uphold all company policies related to health & safety, environment, and business operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in general accounting, cost accounting, or financial analysis.
  • Working towards CPA designation preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
